The Machine Shed

In 1978 we opened our first Machine Shed Restaurant on the outskirts of Davenport, IA. We had just 100 seats and we were all pretty young and green, but we started with a powerful commitment. That was a five-word constitution: "Dedicated to the American Farmer". That dedication meant that we worked hard to have a restaurant that wasn't just "farm themed" but would be something that farmers could be proud of. We began by and continue to use only the best beef, pork and poultry. We cook from scratch using fresh ingredients and we still peel our potatoes ourselves.

Thanks to you, Heart of America Restaurants and Inns has grown to include 6 states where we have 26 restaurants and hotels. As we have grown, so has our pride in serving only the best in Midwestern hospitality.
